Greetings Todd,
I don't know that this is what you are looking for but I'll pass it along as it works well for some applications. On several occasions I have used the First Alert brand smoke detector w/exit lamp to tie into central alarm or other remote alarm. Pop the light out and solder/connect a nine volt mini-relay (coil to lamp leads) to give you a contact that closes with alarm. The unit has two nine volt batts, one for the detector and one for the light (relay). I do not use the lamp in this modification. Works well but wouldn't pass an inspection (watch yer butt) -- Kurt

Bob and others,
Does anyone make a DC (battery powered) smoke detector that has the capability
to be interconnected to other detectors, activating all alarms if there is a
fire or smoke detected by one unit like AC models do? I would be very
interested in this if it was available.
It seems like battery units are all designed to be stand alone only.
