Wrenches,
FastJack mounts are all 3/4" in diameter (solid machined aluminum). For
most comp-shingle roofs we use 4.5 FastJacks with American Metals
flashings. The best place to get flashings is from a plumbing warehouse
and they should cost less than $2.75 each. For re-roof applications on
sloped roofs with a desired lower solar array profile 3 FastJacks with
Oatey-Solar (EPDM rubber) flashings work well. For flat roofs do not
use the rubber flashings only metal. If the roof has a layer of
insulation on top of the sheathing use longer FastJacks, they come in at
least 4 different lengths. I like to have at least a half an inch of
the Fast Jack mount sticking up above the top of the flashing.
I have seen some cheap 3/4" flashings that do not seal well around a
3/4" post and the base hangs up on the mounts and will not rest flush.
My recommendation is to either use Oatey or American Metals. Many
plumbing warehouses only keep a few dozen 3/4" flashings in stock so it
is best to order a hundred or more a couple of weeks before they are
needed. Professional Solar is also a distributor for Oatey Flashings so
you can order them with the FastJack mounts.
