Hello Wrenches------back on the topic of screaming Air machines: a customer
of mine with an Air 403 Marine mounted low atop a cliff in turbulent air
above a beach wide open to the Southeast gales we get here (hurricane force
gusts not uncommon) has always reported excellent output (would you believe
30 to 50 Amps?) but putout neighbors. Recently he reports some noise
abatement success with little loss of output by tethering it about 45
degrees offline (azimuth) In other words, if the gusts are from the
Southeast, he ties it facing about South. Any comment on this practice,
pros or cons? Chime in , Mr. Piggott, if you please. By the way, he also
claims to have calculated that the tip speed of his machine is approaching
the speed of sound, hence the yodeling in storms. I haven't checked his
math yet. Is he nuts?--you aeronautical types have fun! Nick Houser, Off
Grid Power, Powell River, British Columbia.
