That also has it's drawbacks as I would
have to take two runs of 120/240 to the house. One run fed by the
inverters
for back up power and another run for the non-critical loads.
Hey Travis,
Must not have utility power to the house already? I did one run that
was 900 feet. Bought a thousand foot roll of 4/0,4/0,2/0 URD (al). The
reduced neutral became the ground wire (single SW). The critical loads
were powered through the Trace and the main system components were
installed in a pole barn 900 feet from the house which was surrounded by
40 year old oaks. The pole barn also had utility power so there's AC1.
The sub-panel for critical loads at the house had a large power relay
that actually kept the critical loads off the trace unless there was a
power outage (have the silent sell work-around on this system). It was
a costly Y2K system as we had to build a power room in the pole barn
that had a direct vent LP space heater keeping the batts and system warm
during our WI winters. Too bad people want batteries or the whole
system could be installed out there with a sunny boy and a separate
meter/service.
