Hi David,
I have not installed any Sharp modules but I have touched and examined
them. The Sharp modules will be a great addition to our choices of what
to offer our customers. The frames are strong and have an unusually
thick anodization. Unlike the BP modules with pigtails the Sharps
bypass diodes are readily accessible and replaceable. What I like the
most is the space between the module frames and the cells, which will
allow for less inefficiency from soiling. This spacing goes all around
the entire module and will reduce soiling performance losses, resulting
in less cleaning of modules. I have been told that soon Sharp will be
introducing modules with different colored cells to allow for more
aesthetically appealing roof installations. Hopefully the anodized
aluminum frames will have different color choices as well. Personally I
have always preferred to install products manufactured in the good ol
USA and I also like the SP-150s made in California. With that said, I
am pleased to have more options and the Sharps look great. Art Rudin
has left Shell for a position at Sharp, whose office is in Huntington
Beach, California. I noticed pallets of Sharp modules in the new
Sunwize warehouse in Oxnard, California last week. Energy Outfitters
and Schott will also be distributing these modules.
