I am sending these 2 messages one more time in plain text (sorry
Michael).

Message #1
Guys,

I have started a reflector (mail list) specifically for SW / GTI
issues. I
threatened to do this a couple days ago, and now I have three more names
on my
address list, so it's probably time to just get on the listserv and use
that
facility.

I don't know if any of you agree, but this SW / GTI problem will not be
resolved
soon, and many people will be affected by it. A list is not a bad
meeting place
and is a good info gathering concept.

Just seems easier to go the reflector route rather than maintain an
ever-lengthening list of names. One of the Trace guys told me that 800
SW users
are affected by GTI-itis. If it's even 1/4 of that, this is a bunch of
folks....

Just a side note. If your mailer supports watch lists or filtering, you
might
want to put email from TraceSWGTI at ecompute.org into an alternate folder
when
it's received. This keeps your main inbox from gettnig too
cluttered... Agent
and Outlook both support this type of filtering/watch listing. I think
Eudora
does as well.

The listserv is easy to understand. We can post email to it, and it
gets
distributed to all on the list.

If you'd like to join, gen an email to TraceSWGTI-request at ecompute.org.
Put the
single word 'join' (without the quotes) in the body of the message.
Send it. A
few minutes later, you should receive a reply showing that your request
is being
processed. It might take me a few hours to add you to the list - this
is just
an approval thing andI can only access my main email from home. When I
do the
approval thing, you'll get another email welcoming you to the list.

This is a moderated list, meaning I will manage it so that we don't have
problems with eedeeots or spam. The list is remotely managed using
Timbuktu and
DMail.

Once you've got an approval back and have been added to the list, you
can post
email to the list at TraceSWGTI at ecompute.org. Note that this is a
different
address from the -request address.

If you wish to be removed from the list, send an email to
TraceSWGTI-request at ecompute.org with the single word 'unsubscribe' in
the body
of the message.

Joel,

In your post to the wrenches' forum in Topica,

http://www.topica.com/lists/RE-wrenches/read/message.html?mid=904492440&sort=d&start=8151
,

the addresses got munged.

To request a listserv subscription:
TraceSWGTI-request at ecompute.org with the word 'join' in the body.
To post to the list: TraceSWGTI at ecompute.org.

I can't seem to get Topica to validate my work email address, so would
you mind posting these corrections?

Thanks,

matt zilmer
