SW firmware REV's [RE-wrenches]

Wrenches,
   I have been having problems with Rev 4.2 software on 2  off-grid SW's.
I have a set of program chips REV 4.01 I purchased a while back to upgrade my 
old SW4024 manufactured in 1995.  Does anyone know if these chips are the 
same as the 4.01 chips delivered in the more recent models delivered 2 years 
ago?  If they are the same, I can get one customer off my back with a quick 
chip change using these that I already have on hand.
