A word of clarification for the Wrenches including Tom and Chuck,

Apparently Chuck of AAA Solar misunderstood my remarks below and took
offense to my singling out he and Tom as being opinionated. The
parenthetical element was misconstrued as a holier-than-thou statement when
the smiley at the end was meant to say that I am as opinionated as they are,
if not more.

We all believe very stongly in our values related to this technology and we
do that so strongly that we often get carried away and some people
misinterpret our motives and assume we are being disrespectful or
challenging people's character. I'm sure neither Chuck, Tom, or anyone else
related to this thread meant to personally attack anyone in this process,
but we get excited and sometimes people can feel slighted and take things
the wrong way.

I choose to believe the best about folks and allow things to flow like
"water off a duck's back" if there is an inflamitory statement that could be
construed as a personal attack. I can honestly say that I have no malace
toward anyone on this list and do not plan to ever believe anything but the
best about my dedicated colleagues in this business. I would hope that
others would take my remarks in the best light and realize that though I am
opinionated, I do not intend to personally attack anyone. Those who know me
can confirm that I am speaking the truth.

This industry is far to small to carry grudges or hard feelings, and I would
hope that all of us on this list would remember to keep our comments upbeat
and informative and assume the best about folks.

Sorry for any misunderstandings in my post, Chuck, and contact me offlist if
you would like to discuss my remarks further.

All the best,

Bill.

Tom and Chuck,

Here and I thought that the Wrenches List was a monolithic group of PV
installer that all thought the same way. Well, I guess that's not the case
and I believe that to be one of its true benefits. Tom and Chuck, you
obviously have strong opinions on one end of the spectrum as it relates to
the certification of installers, but there are several sides to this issue.

It's great that our industry has such wonderfully opinionated people like
you and it is part of what makes it so fun (I'm never ever opinionated on
any subject myself, but I see that others are ;-)). However, your opinion is
one of many and represents a portion of the solar industry that is either
unlikely to need the certification or is easily able to obtain certification
if they deem it necessary for their business.

I didn't notice references to Don Loweburg of IPP, who is on the board of
NABCEP, and Allan Sindelar, of this Wrenches List, who is on the technical
committee. I am also the secretary of the technical committee and this
wrench list--but we already established that not everyone thinks the same on
this list.
