RE regulations both UL & IEEE & Guerilla [RE-wrenches]

We're with Richard on this one. The utilities are the whiners. The
inverters do deliver better than grid power and solar by nature is the
only power that is a win/win for everyone and what better way to get
that point across than a little guerrilla, in your face example of it
now and then. Make them come up with a reason that you shouldn't do
it. They stammer and sputter and words like "transmission charge" and
"fry a lineman" and "our costs" come bumbling out of their mouths, but
there are no reasons.
We believe in net-metering and we have lobbied hard (with help from Tom
Starrs and other great folks) to ensure that those who chose to go
through the hoops can do it without too much discouragement. But, if you
know solar, you know that it is doing no harm and the fiercely
independent who want grid backup are doing the right thing when they
connect that first solar panel whether they tell the utility or not.
The utilities ["We're in control here"] attitude brings on the defensive
posture that guerillas have. We have many types of customers and our
guerillas are all in areas where the utilities have made a brick wall
toward net-metering. These utilities refuse to educate themselves or
even let themselves be educated. Lord knows we've tried. If they want
to cut off their noses to spite their faces, we will still "get along
with them" by putting the inverter in "sell" mode and lightening the
load on their rate-based infrastructure while they go about thinking
they're in control here. The important thing is that we have less than
300 years before everything on this planet is dead unless we do
something major. That means solar must go mainstream and that means any
way we can. solar is the 10. Believe in it and do it. Lee
