As is often posted here, we also recommend Kohler 10RY.  Its a bit over your
target 8 kW but reliability and quiet running make the difference easy to
sell.  I spent a winter trip chasing generator problems around the northwest
with Onan and others, and have never had to do so since going to the 10RY,
which is propane, 1800 rpm, cast iron engine, and liquid cooled.
