The Advanced Energy MM-5000 has what we call a "zero-current" charging mode
where the battery is brought to float at sun-up each day and held there for
an hour or so, then servo-ed to zero current so the float losses are
eliminated for the rest of the day. We also have inbuilt MPPT tracking
which will give at least 10% more power in typical systems.

Next question:
While I am thinking about the 3 alternatives to "brand X"; Sunny Boy,
Vanner and Advanced Energy, which one has a silent sell feature? Might as
well step to higher efficiency when switching brands.
