my idea for using a 3 phase panel [RE-wrenches]

Todd:

8 circuit load centers cost no more than $45, so the savings is not that
great.

I don't like mixing uses in one load center. I like the client to be
comfortable with their knowledge of the system and I think it would confuse
the client for them to have to understand that every third breaker is the
inverter output. The installation is much cleaner and more logical with
separate load centers for utility, inverter output and another one for
generator.

On the rare occasion I install only one SW inverter, I like to leave an
open space for a second SW inverter. The addition of a second SW inverter
would total mess you up because now you don't have the fourth buss you need.

And not least of all, I'm not sure it would be code legal to mix these uses
in one panel. I didn't bother to look this up because it is undesirable
for the other reasons mentioned.

I too had thought of this idea and immediately rejected it. Hope these
ideas make sense.

William
