The first thing I would do is get them to LOWER their loads. We run our whole
house with 1.4 kW. Surplus in the summer to offset deficit in the winter, and
we are IMO quite wasteful here, computer, TV etc. on lots. We have a solar hot
water system, CF lamps... but still are not what I would call miserly... not
like I was living off grid.
Lower loads means fewer PV's which means trying to fit less of them on that
roof design.
