Yo Kirk,
I invested in a set of cable grips years ago. They kinda scissor open
to grab your wire rope along a 3" section so no kinking. Cost me
around $60.00 each at a tool store back then. The harder you pull,
the tighter it gets. You put it on the live wire, run the wire
through your anchor eye, and throw a farmers eye (or make an eye with
cable clips) on the dead end. Use a come-along to tension the wire.
You'll want two sets of these so you can tension opposite sides at
the same time. DON'T get the ones made for barbed wire. They will
kink your wire rope or cable.
Hope this helps.
Best, bob-O
