PV as an investment [RE-wrenches]

Since reading Mr. Lanes analysis of solar water heating as an investment
I have used this argument too. It works. People get it, and  I no longer
cringe when I hear questions about "payback". I just turn it around and
talk about investment.
Now if only our electricity rates were in the 12 cent range. (We
presently pay 5.6 Canadian cents per kWh or about 3.7 cents in real
money.)
