shunt [RE-wrenches]

Check out http://www.bogartengineering.com/shunt.htm for some more  info on
shunts.  My thought would be to avoid a 100 amp shunt if you think you might
be regularly running at anywhere near the 50 amps you mentioned.  It might
heat up leading to other problems.

Don't know what to say about the marine environment.
