Installer Certification & Monster- Painful truth [RE-wrenches]

Either you are in business to stay in business or you aren't. Staying in
business means taking care of customers and doing the job right. As William
points out, you need to know when to sub things out to a pro. You must stay
on top of changes in the products and learn better installation techniques
all the time. Certifications are typically meaningless and often abused in
any trade and the public knows that. My company isn't certified to run cat5
cable or splice fiber. We do it because our customers know that we can do it
right and the guys who were certified to do it screwed it up for them.

The smart consumer does his homework, asks for references and gets several
bids. He ask for proof of insurance and licensing. If you don't provide
that for him he goes elsewhere. If he doesn't he deserves to get ripped
off. It's just to bad solar gets a bad name in the process. Lets face it
solar is still incredibly overpriced and underpowered. If the products are
so easy to install wrong maybe we are looking at the wrong end of the stick.
