Rewireing forklift batteies (was 36V inverters [RE-wrenches]

I am in the process of "rewiring" a pack at the moment. You need to buy new
terminal ends and weld (with lead) the terminals on. Then you can use cable,
the ends aren't too bad, $3.00 each for the simple ones, like we need.
The fun part is getting the strap cutter to cut the lead straps, it goes for
around $160.00
and you need a STRONG 1/2" drill and a bunch of lube like WD - 40. That lead
really works the drill, without the lube you will not cut many before the
drill overheats (probably only one).

You might check out ExcelTech inverters for special order unit.  They list
32 volt and 120 volt in some literature I have.  It's pure sine for the
copier but might not have the surge capacity for a well pump.  That might be
easily handled though.

Is the fork lift battery in a case that can be opened?  Maybe you could
rewire the pack of cells for 12 or 24 volts?
