Do NOT use salt to keep a stock tank from freezing....... Would you want to
drink the water after you salted it?

Hi Jim,

It's pretty normal to give cattle salt/mineral blocks--we use them
here. I don't know how much salt you'd have to add to a stock water
tank to make a significant difference in freezing though.
