PV Inverters module strings (Last Call) [RE-wrenches]

Wrenches:

I am working with J. Wiles to do some guidelines for safe installations.
I am also starting to do regional training seminars and would be glad to
present the info.

This is by no means comprehensive but here are a few suggestions:

600 Vdc can certainly be lethal so you need to be very careful when you play
with it.
The shock hazard is roughly equal to working in a hot 240 Vac system.
Electricians use hot gloves when working on live parts and so should you.

Use conduit on ALL exposed wire runs - code requirement.
When you are hooking up the inverter the GFDI fuse should be removed so the
array is floating.
You should also have the disconnect installed and locked in the open
position.
Make the final series connection in the middle of the array so you are not
working with big voltage differentials in close proximity to each other.
Lastly, keep one hand in your pocket so you cant touch two wires at the smae
time ;-)

If you have any questions or I can be of any further assistance please do
not hesitate to contact me.

Best regards,

John Berdner
