Plea for "Edge-O-Cation" [RE-wrenches]

further to my last message below, and I am thinking aloud here, sulphation
of the battery would give you high cell voltage as soon as you started
charging.  if you aren't getting a high voltage and the current is going
down to 1 amp within an hour, maybe the control of the charger is being
tricked into seeing a higher voltage than actually exists.  Have you checked
the cell voltages?  also have you tried charging with a smaller charger ie a
trickle charger - if this charges then the control for the charger side of
the inverter is possibly at fault.  When you come to think of it, an
equalisation charge is the same as a trickle charge ie constant voltage,
constant amps.
