QO Breakers and Panels [RE-wrenches]

Hi Folks:

Accolades to all for your work on the DC rated breaker question. Nick
Stallard a wrench and EE not on the list said the QO and QOU breakers are
internally identical. The reason the QOs are rated for less DC voltage is
their snap in design means they could pop loose while interupting a high
voltage at high current. (Mechanically the forces involved with the throw
of the breaker are greater)Also the QOUs have been UL tested for more
applications.
For the record, we always put a class T or RK5 between the batteries and
breaker, we use standard QOs in standard load centers for 12 & 24 VDC nom.,
and we save the QOUs mounted in custom enclosures on DIN rails for 48 VDC
nom.. The 2 pole potential of the QOs to 125 VDC is interesting but we
haven't tried it yet.
