Fw: Fw: FW: Virus Alert [RE-wrenches]

	All (and particularly Allan);

I'm going to try to restrain myself from going on an all-out rant here,
but PLEASE DO NOT FORWARD ANY VIRUS ALERTS! Particularly ones that are a
year out of date. I have received the "Pretty Park" virus twice, and
deleted the damn thing immediately each time. For the record, Pretty Park
does NOT erase your had drive, it mails itself to everyone on your e-mail
address book list, then gathers as much personal information as it can find
on your computer and tries to relay that information to a server in France
the next time you are on the 'net. You might be better off if all it did
was destroy your computer right from the start.
Interestingly, in the same group of mail with Allans message was the
current scourge of the 'net, the "Snow White" virus. I've gotten that one
three time this month alone.
I'll also refrain from going on about virus safety. If you can't resist
the urge to run unknown executable files on your computer, go get some
virus software and keep it updated after installing it. Personally, I've
seen more computers rendered unusable by the virus software than by actual
viruses.
The bottom line is: Practice safe computing and you won't have to worry
about catching any 'bugs' and I won't have to worry about deleting yet
another repetitive virus warning message.
	Thank You.

	NOTE TO MICHAEL:

Considering how little benefit we get from receiving attachments from the
list, and seeing as they are how viruses propagate, how about disallowing
them? I would be happy to post any files deemed worth of wide distribution
on my server so that all could access them. Members would still be free to
mail attachments to one another off-list, of course.
