BP85s [RE-wrenches]

I've finally gotten a "comparison" going between Astropower AP-120's and 
the BP-90's (the label data, but I understand 85W rating.)

What we have set up is 12 BP-590s on a fixed rack, tilted at about 60 
degrees (it's still snowing here!). We also have a rack of 8 AP-120's on a 
Wat-Sun single azimuth tracker, also tilted at 60 degrees. Both systems go 
through their own C40 with a DVM. It is our intent to take daily readings 
of the accumulated A-Hrs, and end of day (dark) battery voltage.

This is a net metered system using a Trace SW4024, with a small battery 
bank of 4 Surrette/Rolls CH-375 (pretty equivalent to a Trojan L-16).

I'll keep you posted on what we find. First few days, the arrays are 
producing about equal.

Do we count the BP-590 array as 1020 Watts peak or 1080 watts peak?

If anyone wants to throw us an extra C-40 and DVM, we'll set up the 
UniSolar PVL-128's (field laminated units) the same way. These are on a 
4/12 pitch roof (no adjustment!), about 15 degrees.

Does anyone think that an old Bobier Omnimeter would do well as a data 
logger for this setup?

Until the MPPT controllers came out, the only time we used BP90s (now 85s)
was for water pumping, and we often recommended against them to customers,
for the reasons given re higher MPP voltage being less useful. With MPPT, 
we
can harvest the benefit at higher voltage, which allows us in some systems
to save on racking, wiring, and other expenses directly related to array
installation.
