Hey Travis -- Couple thoughts on this. First, I think all of these 19 -
21
CF models that have been discussed are auto defrost. As such, I've seen
some of
the timers go bad or get confused on inverted power,. The other issue I
have with these frig's is the impact of having an inverter running
24/7. I still try and design systems to allow the inverter to drop into
search mode for large parts of the day and night hours. Jim Kerbel of
PV Systems used to modify refrigerators by putting low voltage DC timers
on conventional frigs.
Many of my customers use manual defrost models (General Electric?), but
I've never seen them in models above about 11CF except the Sunfrost,
which is a very high
quality unit though pricey. Anyone know of larger manual frig's? I
couldn't get the Energy Star site to work because it just kept saying
that no current models meet ES spec's. -- Kurt Nelson
