outdoor compact flourescents [RE-wrenches]

Hi Wrenches,

We are looking at a project that would entail installing a series of 
outdoor sign lights to run on PV. .  We are considering using DC, outdoor, 
13 watt compact fluorescent lights.

It seems like these outdoor cf lights were popular at one time, now seem 
rare.  Is that because there are problems with them?  Does anyone have 
experience?
