Dave P.,

If your client does have clear, as in visible, line-of-sight, between the
end point of the phone company's land-line and his/her place, I'd recommend
the relatively new 2.4 Ghz, digital, encrypted wireless phone made by
Carlson Wireless in northern CA.

http://www.carlsonwireless.com/

I've have used this two-line phone for the past year in the jungle of a
remote valley here in Hawai'i and have been generally pleased with its
performance. While it doesn't offer Roadrunner-type speed for the internet,
it's not bad for a wireless at about 28 Kbps. It can operate off of DC
electricity anywhere in the 12-48 range. Check out their website and/or
give 'em a call. Jim Carlson is the pres. and has been doing wireless
telephones for years. Or speak to Jim Fulton. 707 923-3000. Please let
whomever you or your client may speak to at Carlson know that I referred you
to them. Thanks. (No, I don't get any finder's fee.)
