One idea I've had for fire protection was to mount plywood directly to
the studs, then screw a sheet of drywall on top of it. The equipment
could be mounted with screws at any location, yet have the fire barrier.
I don't know that it is really necessary to do this for inverters. Have
there been any reports of inverters igniting the wood behind them?
