What are the rest of you using for battery cable? Where do you purchase

it? Do you routinely apply shrink tubing to crimp connectors? How do
you
treat the battery posts on vented batteries?

William,
We use both welding cable and the UL building cable where required. We
have high humidity but have never seen the the "sticky insulation" that
was mentioned earlier. We use Quick Cable products(800-558-8667).
Their "magna lugs" are the best we've ever found and even have a UL
listing when crimped with their hex crimp tool. They sell bags of glue
filled heat shrink, precut 1&1/2", 50 to a bag, red & black, fits 1/0 to
250 mcm. I think they cost about .75 and sure are convenient. As a
corrosion protector, we use their paste product, "Quick Cote". I've
been back to jobs that I used this on 6-7 years ago and no corrosion. A
word of caution on the aerosol products: I've seen batteries where the
plastic case near the terminals is discolored and brittle looking and
tell-tale signs of a spray applied protectorant. It seems the
propellant might be negativiely impacting the plastic. Anyone else seen
this?

Bob Maynard
