Trace vs the competition [RE-wrenches]

Thanks guys for the transformer info. As far as whats
going around about the trace SW I really wonder how
badly Xantrex will give up on improving the technology
when the fuel cells take off. I get a bad feeling
about that, I mean Trace isnt listening now and when
they have a new baby we will have even less of a
chance. I had a thought that maybe as a group we could
approach one of the underdog inverter companies with
a list of parameters for "The Better Inverter" in
which we spell out what we want to see built and maybe
someone like Vanner would be savvy enough to build it.
Lets face it, Trace doesnt have much to gain by trying
to appease us since they are king but the other
companies would love their chance at a bigger slice of
the pie. When I went to Australia I picked up a local
solar mag that did comparisions of all their inverter
manufacturers and there were quite a few to choose
from and they all seemed sophisticated and meanwhile
we all seem to stick with one company which recently
became a monopoly and isnt building what we want. If
they cant do it someone could with enough incentive
and input. We will be called on to do more
grid-interties than ever and we shouldnt waste our
time on bandaid approaches if we can have a more
positive influence. It seems to me one problem is that
at nite when the SW turns into a charger instead of
doing silent sell, it makes a inefficient job of
charging and that a separate efficient solid state
charger triggered by a voltage actuated relay would
not loose so much of what it spent the day selling
off, especially when you have stacked units both
humming away to do a float charge. Carl Reuter
