<x-flowed>Hello Wrenches

I received this email, listed below, from a fellow who is interested
in getting into the RE business in Kansas. Here's what I told him.

>I'm hesitant to refer you to folks I know who are in the business.
>The reason is that these folks are very, very busy and I have no
>idea if they are willing to teach you, via email, the basics of
>starting and running a successful renewable energy business.
>
>What I will do is send your email to folks who I think may be
>interested in helping you. If they wish to respond directly to you,
>then they will.

Richard

Dear Mr. Perez,
We haven't met so allow me to introduce myself. My name is
Daryl Varney and I live in Olathe, KS. My purpose for writing
is to ask a favor. But first, allow me to give a little background.
I have had a longtime, and somewhat suppressed, interest in
renewable energy. A few months ago I realized I was in a career
that I wasn't especially enthusiastic about and began thinking about
"what really interests me". It was then that I realized that my interest
in renewable energy was something I am excited about. Thus, I then
started to think about the possibility of having my own business.
When I began to read up on the industry in your magazine and in
other sources I became even more excited about the current state
of things and what I perceive to be opportunities. So here I am today
in the very early process of a feasibility study for a business in
the field of wind energy, solar, or both. Which brings me to my question
and favor of you. I am interested in establishing a "distance relationship"
with a couple of trusted and experienced professionals. The purpose
of this relationship is to have someone to turn to for advice without them
fearful that I might be a potential competitor. I feel that you would be
a good source for suggesting a few names of two or three people you
feel would fit the description above and be willing to play such a role.
Because of my location, I envision perhaps one contact on the west coast
and one on the east coast. However, I am open to your suggestions.
I thank you in advance for reading my email and I appreciate whatever
consideration you will give it.
Sincerely,
Daryl Varney
