Transformer T240 [RE-wrenches]

Hi all,
    I am quoting on a fairly large 48 vdc wind/solar off grid system with 16  
L16P Batteries.  I am planning to use a Yamaha EF4600 generator and am 
wondering if feeding the 240 from the generator into a T240 to balance the 
generator and get more than the 20 amps available in the 120 socket would 
make sense.  I want to minimize generator run time and with the large battery 
bank, it should be able to use close to 25 amps at 120 v to get the 60amp dc 
charger output on the SW4048 and I also need more for the pass through to run 
the house loads.  Has anyone used the balancing transformer?
