Jeff:
Some time ago I contacted Carlon and they claim that their PVC really is
sunlight resistant. They claim no physical degradation when exposed to UV
and any discoloration is only microns deep.
The specification for this job was for a corrosion proof structure above
the roof line, so EMT was out. Nonetheless, we don't want discoloration,
regardless of how thin, or any chance of brittleness, so after the photo
was taken, the UV exposed PVC was painted with a UV resistant epoxy paint.
The rack system is the Direct Power aluminum Two Tier racks. They are set
on stainless strut so the racks can be adjusted to align precisely. It's
an expensive way to go but gives us good results.
The location is in Los Osos Californian. That is Morro BAy in the
background. The beach nearby is exposed to the full fetch of the Pacific
Ocean so salt spray is ever present.
Thanks for the feed back.
