Jeff,
I have a system with two SMA SB1800 inverters feeding a sub panel that 
is also fed by the output of  an outback VFX3524. It works fine, but 
you  have to be careful about preventing the batteries from overcharging 
if your array is producing more than you are using. This could become 
more critical with a larger system, by I see no reason it will not 
work.  You could use the auxiliary relays in the inverters to disconnect 
the AC output of each of the PV inverters at progressively higher 
voltages so they would act like a tapering charge.  Call me if you have 
any questions.
