The SunPower modules do not have a physical connnection of the positive
to ground - they have an issue caused by their unusual all back
connected construction. The simplist way to explain the problem is
that, when the panels are connected in a negative ground system, some of
the electrons end up sticking to the glass and the PV module ends up
with reduced output. Grounding the PV array positively ends up
reversing the problem and getting full output again.
I have heard that this issue is not significant at the 12 and 24vdc
levels. I have personally measured and seen the output increase once
the system was switched to positive ground on a 72vdc PV array with a
MX60 and a 48vdc battery.
There is a full technical "white paper" on the SunPower website if you
want to learn more.
