We very much appreciate this discussion and will be using it to make
some decisions on a formal policy for our products.

It depends on the specific modules and how cold it will get at your
location. There also is the issue of the 150 VDC limit on both the MX60
and the DC circuit breakers themselves - although I do not think very
many inspectors understand that cold temps increases the VOC so much.
We have many installed 72 vdc nominal systems which have been operating
in very cold locals which are exceeding the 150 VOC level - but I still
am not comfortable with recommending it "officially". We have a test
setup here which we have ran the equivalent of 3.5 x 24v modules in
series (7 x 12vdc actually) which exceeds the 150V limit - and we
haven't had problems...
One issue is what happens when we do find an inspector who understands
this issue and decides that the system is not acceptable?

This is something we have been working on for a long time and its just
not possible with the current MATE's limited processor/hardware
unfortunately - we are working on a "supercharged" version of the MATE
which will enable this and much more... stay tuned.
