Absolyte IIP (was mysterious Surrette) [RE-wrenches]

Travis,

In the 90's, I bought a surplus load of IIP cells that had sat in a  
warehouse for an unknown few years, and still were well-charged. I  
bought them from NWES. They did seem to be perfectly good. I sold  
about 6 sets. They lasted about 7 years, on the systems that treated  
them fairly well.

Some systems didn't have the right charge control, and they started  
drying out after a few years. On Rob's instruction, I pried the caps  
open and added water until the mats appeared to be close to  
saturation. Those batteries revived and lasted another year or so.

This doesn't give you much of an answer, but it's my experience. I  
had to really twist my head sideways to install (some of) them  
horizontally!
