the Gambia and now Elsewhere [RE-wrenches]

I have noticed this also, today I had one from someone in Chicago. Luckily
the terminology and misspellings are the same on all of them, so they stand
out!
Bank transfers are the only way to go with these "characters"

Later,
Bob

The Gambia thieves have expanded their racket by becoming or setting up
agents in the US, Canada, Great Britain and elsewhere (usually with false ID
and stolen credit cards). But it is the same request for equipment, similar
wording, etc. Bank transfers are good protection but require you to give
your bank account information to people who may use it illegally so tell
your bank to monitor electronic activity and only allow your authorization
for each specific transaction.

Here's my reply to most of the out-of-country stuff:

"Due to the high incidence of credit card fraud (and forged bank cheques) we
can only accept bank transfers from our out-of-country customers. It is
very time-consuming to get freight rates for international shipments, so
unless our terms are understood and agreed upon for the goods, we do not
have the time to waste. We get literally HUNDREDS of fraudulent attempts to
buy our goods.
We
hope you can understand our predicament."

Once in a while one of these pans out. But you'd better pad the margin, and
the freight, to make it worth your while. Just my .02 cents worth.
